941B trans capacity

The repair and maintenance manuals both say the trans capacity is 8.5 gallons. To be safe I bought 10 gallons and a filter. I checked after 8.5 gallons and there was nothing on the stick. I got it up to the low mark with 10 gallons with it running. It appears to need another gallon. Anyone have any experience with this. Thanks.

if i remember right my 941b powershift takes 11 gallons----bevel gear and steering clutches around 17-18 gallons
