Good morning guys!
i'm interested in what you guys would think as far as the deal I'm trying to put together for a parts machine for my 941.

Right now my 941 NEEDS the following:
- ROPS
- front and back belly pans/skid plates
- bucket teeth
- Its got pretty worn track shoes
- i have older D330C engine - no issues w/ engine that I'm aware of

So I'm thinking of buying a 941B with a blown final drive. this machine HAS:
- ROPS
- All belly pans
- bucket with 7 cat teeth
- It had the undercarriage redone less than 200 hrs before it went down. sprockets were replaced and welded on.
- new track with shoes
- it has the 3304 engine; the engine has not run in 8 years. it ran when it went down.

this parts machine is 2 hrs from me. It'll cost ~$1000 shipping to get it down to me. shipper is aware of it not running and blown final drive.

the seller is asking $2500 for the 941B parts machine but is negotiable.

I'm thinking w/ the parts I need...ROPS, belly pans, teeth (these being necessary items for what I want to do - clean up some property - stumps, brush, trees etc), that its gonna cost me atleast $1500 in parts and shipping to get my unit up and going.
My thoughts are if I can get this one around $1700 for the machine and $1000 to ship, it might be a good deal? I dont know if I'm thinking of this wrong or if I might be onto something.

Do you think the 941B engine is trashed or might be ok? He said he's had it covered.
From what I've read the 3304 would fit in my D330C space if it ever went down. true?

Given the shipping and the state of the 941B, what would you all think is a fair price? is itworth it or am I thinking of this wrong?
any input you all can offer is always much appreciated.

Below is pix of the parts 941B machine.

Thank you!

I am thinking it is worth it for the undercarriage alone.
Always good to have a parts machine.

Can never have enough spares - will forget the cost. Maybe you should look into the final drive and see if that might be the easier route- very likely that engine is fine? My old D4 sat for 20 years with large trees growing up threw it - started and ran fine when sold 12 years later. Bob

Im am with restore49--go check out the engine, see if it spins over, its 24 volt.--bleed the system and see if it will fire up, it seems more complete than your 941

Hi, Cptcrnch1
WHY NOT ?????????????????? Wottz moor, I think the final drive from your current machine would bolt straight into that 'parts' machine - IF the 3304 proves to be a runner. Might save you a LOTTTA work switching things over.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I'm getting confused now---in one of your previous posts you said the 941B was a runner and moved??

"the shoes on my 941 are pretty worn and I'm looking at a parts machine that has good shoes. parts machine does run/move."

I have always found I made out better in the long run to buy a whole parts machine over buying individual parts.

I think I'd be inclined to look into the 941B as the machine to keep and the 941 for parts.

I'm sorry to confuse the [email protected] was a typo on my part.
941B....does NOT run or move. after final drive went out 8 years ago....it was parked and thats where it has sat.

Ok on possibly swapping final drives from 941 to 941B to maybe getting a more up to date machine, however I haven't dug into the 941B much further than what I've been told, I'm just going by what the current owner says its 'only issue was the final drive went out'.......his memory might have forgotten a few things! 😉

btw, I'm a novice, when you say bleed the system before trying to start it up....what do you mean? is there any concern w/ the gas or oil thats been in it for 8 yrs sitting?

any thoughts on what I should offer $$ the guy for the 941B as it sits.....right now, he's just trying to get more than scrap for it and get it out of his way. His original price to me was $3k first we talked, then 2500 when I talked w/ him yesterday..... It'll be $1000 shipping to get it to me.

thanks again for any and all input.

Hi, Cptcrnch2.
If it makes it any easier - or cheaper - I think a 4-axle tilt tray truck with a good winch would be legal with that load and could simply winch it up onto the tilt tray.

Are there any low-flying bridges or power/phone lines along the way as height may be an issue?

Just my 0.02.

The 941 and 941 B have a different tooth number on the Final Drive gears, the engines will swap over but there will be oil cooler parts needing a bit of effort but all the bits you will have, to bleed the fuel system is easy just have the throttle in the shut off position and with a good fuel level in the tank undoing the injector lines and let fuel purge through by itself, the easier F/Drive parts to find /Buy are the 941B items, they also fit into the D4E's. tctractors
