Jerry I have a D7-17A that has had the same problem. What I found out was the brake lining on the clutch brake was worn out. I replaced the clutch brake lining and it works ok now.

The clutch brake on a 933G must be different than the clutch brake on a D7-17A. The clutch brake on a D7-17A is on the outside of the clutch housing next to the universal joint the connects the drive shaft to the transmission.

You have to take the clutch cover off to get at the brake lining, just beware that overtightening the brake adjustment can have the wrong effect because it can prevent the clutch fully releasing, the clutch linkage should be adjusted to allow the clutch to fully release then the brake tightened to rely on the pressure of the spring in the linkage to push it on. If you can't get full lever travel because the brake is too tight the clutch does not fully separate.

Is the book you are using the Service Manual for the 933 42A1-up? Set up having specific dimensions for "A" of 0.027" and "B" 0.16"?

Yes, the brake is different than the shoe type used on the 17A.
This one is a wrap around band with spring activation.

If the clutch and brake adjustment is correct and its still grinding going into gear it is possible that the problem is caused by the the discs been kept sandwiched together by oil pressure that can build up if the drain holes in the flywheel get blocked or restricted, the clutch is lubricated under pressure by the pump,if the oil cannot escape from the flywheel it can squeeze the discs together keeping them driving,if the adjustment done the trick ignore this.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
