933f caterpillar inner driving drum

I have pulled the drivers side clutch housing and in the process, broke the inner driving drum part # 8h6843. I still need to pull the other side and wondering if there was something I could have done to prevent it or if it's the risk one takes. I still am working toward the pinion hub that started this whole ordeal. Thanks

Sorry, no pictures. I used two bolts in the tapped holes the manual showed to push the assembly away from the loader. Once there was a opening between the assembly and the loader, I placed chisels to evenly drive it apart to and lowered it with the come-along that was holding up the rear of the assembly. The front was supported by the transmission support.
