Hi all I believe this is a d330 anyhow I just bought this thing it has been sitting for at least 15 years was a well maintained machine use was discontinued over a safety concern so I did get it running starts very easy but it will not rev up or idle you have to keep your foot on pedal to stay running and rpms hold steady at just above idle but no more you let off it stalls it also seems to run rich
I have changed the fuel filters cleaned the fuel system best as I could I took cover off top of pump I see it has a high low adjustment screw not sure exactly how these should be adjusted as I do not have a manual yet it is coming just tinkering today hoping to figure something out

Thank you
Also the air filters are clean
It is a 94a serial

My advice is to not touch any adjustment screws, they haven't moved while the machine is standing! Its more likely you have a fuel pressure/ blockage problem.

on my 922 loader i had to put an inline 24 volt "diesel" fuel pump. the machine it 45years old and the fuel pump is trying to suck fuel almost 4 feet up to the top of the engine. also check the little bowl with the brass screen under the fuel pump. sometime the brass screen gets plugged up.

thansk

could be something to do with the rack limiter feature in the governor. This plunger keeps the rack at an idle until oil pressure builds up.

I believe Eddie mentioned that the plunger was known to stick on an occasional machine. I personally have not had that happen on any of the machines here, but when it is functioning properly, you can feel a definite change in the accelerator pedal travel when oil pressure builds up and releases the limiter plunger. If you do not feel this, I would go looking for the cause of the trouble, either low oil pressure to the whole engine, low pressure to the limiter plunger or a sticky plunger.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Could be more than one issue going on. In addition to checking the throttle limiter as cc suggests, they also have a rather odd mechanism for retaining throttle position consisting of a couple rollers, springs and ramp. Best to get hold of your manual first before proceeding with trouble shooting this feature.

Thanks for all the ideas didn't see the bowl under pump I will have to look for it it shows good pressure on oil and fuel both the rack travel feels very easy to move running or not it doesn't change maybe it could be the plunger not real sure how to go about that
Thank you all

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
