I’m looking to see if anyone has a diagram or template or any information on boring the hole for a 42 MT starter.

I’ve used this site for information to purchase a starter and contacted Delco Remy and they gave me a part number with the starter with all the specs required for your information the Delco Remy part number is 10479130 24 volt SAE 3 Pinion 11 tooth 6/8 pitch 308 solenoid positin CW Rotation I purchased brand new from DB Electric shipping included $259.94 800-753-2242
Update Delco Remy tech Support gave me the wrong DEH 180 degree opening with this part number they said you had to buy a proper DEH 145 degree opening regardless that part number is 1988748 Approximately $24 at DB electric

Old Magnet has all the info on the conversion. He should be along shortly. What are you doing with the pony? You have the number for the prechambers and glow plugs?

For the 8T big hole center location...
Outside of clutch housing to center of hole = 3.4825"
From top of housing where pony sits to center of hole =10.3125"
Also requires a RH helix starter drive.

Thank you very much Old Magnet I really appreciate your help!!! The other problem I’m having is I thought the starter came with the right hand helical cut pinion gear that’s what Delco Remy told me and it does not now I’m having trouble finding one for the 42MT starter any advice would greatly be appreciated

I think I’m going to try to rebuild the old pony motor

Seems the RH helical drive sources have dried up, at least the ones I know about.

If I can’t find one then my only other option would be is to rebuild the pony motor I guess

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
