How much oil pressure does it lose ?
In my experience it's not unusual to have 40 psi until things get warmed up, then you may have 20 or so.
Also, maybe install a known accurate gauge when you test drive it. What weight oil is in it ?
Good luck !
Going to play with it before to long so I'll know more about it. I would bet they are using 15-40 in it just like their farm tractors. The way he talks it loses about all pressure. Thanks

Looking online I've only seen one H with this style cylinders. Were the early tractors like this or has it been converted from cable?

Hi Team,
from my Special Instruction on Dynamometer Test Specification For Cat Engines
For the D342/D8 engine it gives 45psi +/- 20% at 1,000 RPM and 10psi minimum at Low Idle.
Blade cylinder mount is like the previous model 14/14A D8 style.
Possible someone used up old stock and fitted this mount to the D8H.
We sometimes did this to use old stock if it was compatible with an update/new model machine--the customer got a cheaper hydraulic blade setup.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
Arctic Carbon in Finland had DD D8H with the same blade setup, my take is that the very first tractors possibly had the 14/15A blades fitted before they went to the later style. I don't know what has happened to Pertu's tractor since he has died.

That is the standard blade ram set up for the early D8H, I can only suggest that the later higher mounted, longer rams give more lift at reduced effort and stress on the mounting points.
Being #840 I would think this has to be 1st or 2nd year production. I was thinking same thing on lift being weaker because of angle.
It looks to have the shorter six roller track frames as, the seven roller frames introduced later on would put the front idler forward and the track closer to the ram, for all that, it looks to be a very tidy machine, providing the low oil pressure does not turn out to be a major problem.
