We recently purchased a D5 S/N:82H662. It has steering troubles. The left side slips under a load and the right is hard to turn. I am looking for year model, hp, weight, and a reputable place to purcase a service manual. I am new here. I am impressed with the knowledge here. Thank You for any help.

The Cat SNID book says they started production in 1967 so as low a SN as it has I,m guessing it came out that year yet or 1968. A book I have says they had 93 HP but I don,t have the weight of it as it wasn,t listed in this Classis Caterpillar book I have by Keith Haddock & Eric Orlemann.

The info I have shows only one year of production (1967).
Basic weight is 18,600 lbs.
D333 engine at 93hp.

The manuals for such a limited production might be a little hard to find or combined in one of the many similar model service books.

You could try here under "track tractors" (doesn't seem to be working this am😕 )

Was able to get in to the Cat Literature site.
They show a parts book Form # UEO70061 @ 220 pgs.
Operation & Maintenance manual Form # FEO45079-03 @ 96 pgs.
But I could not find a Service Manual specifically for the 82h.....I suspect the service manual for the 93J is probably about as close as you will get.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
