Anybody familiar with the steering cylinders. We are trying to get the piston off the ram. The lock nut came right off with a little muscle, but the piston is pretty secure yet. Does it thread on also? I don't see a place for a spanner wrench.

Thanks,
John

I haven't come across a Cat cylinder that the piston was screwed on the ram. I have seen a couple that were hell to get off because someone used red locktite on the nut and it ran down and locked the piston to the ram.

I looked it up on Cat's SIS parts web on a serial number 9XG and didn't see anything different than other Cat cylinders.

Thanks for the help. We ended up sticking it in a press and poping it loose. It is a taper lock. Always something different. Ended up the seal was brittle and falling apart.
