Hey guys I have a cat 225 and looking to replace the final drive oils. Manual is calling for a 50w MIL-L-2104B spec. I received this from shell:

MIL-L-2104B is an obsolete, spec superseded by MIL-L-46152, for medium duty diesel engines. Same performance rating as API CC. None of our products carry the said MIL spec on TDS possibly due to obsolescence, however any Rotella T1 (SAE 10W, 30, 40 and 50) products meet the said specification.

I talked to caterpillar and they want me to put in the current to-4 spec oil at $130 a pail. I can buy the shell rotella stuff but only in a 40w. Would you guys recommend the 40w and it being ok? I am located in BC Canada and can't seem to find a cheap 50W oil that meets that old military spec. Anyone know of a product that will work for my 225?

Thank you.
