Recently acquired a D7E serial 48A9088. Working through all the filters and fluid flush / change and will be starting up on the hydraulic cylinder rebuilds soon.

Question: what is the nut size for the lift cylinders and the tilt cylinder? Want to have tools on hand in advance.

Does the technical library have the service manual for the cylinders / hydraulics?

Thanks

You really should have a set of inside and outside calipers in your toolbox. You will find those items very useful. It is difficult to know which "nuts" on what part of the cylinder you are inquiring about. So many variables with cylinders and other externals, this is a difficult question. For much of the work I was doing, I got by with socket sets - 3/8"-1/2" and 3/4" drive will be most useful. End wrenches to 1 1/4" and at least a 16 or 24" adjustable will help in many cases (avoid use if possible, these tend to slip and round off corners of nuts and bolts). GOOD LUCK - Enjoy the machines -- cts

Uh, thanks I guess and am good on calipers, what nots well beyond the wrenches you listed.

If someone actually knows the nut size on a D7E tilt cylinder seal set / packing, would appreciate a substantive response.

Your best bet would be to take your cylinders to hyd shop and let them rebuild them.

Why would I take to a shop if routinely rebuild cylinders myself. Just asking if someone knows the nut size for a 48A D7E so I can be sure to have it on hand when I take it apart.

Since you are a hyd expert you should know that it is recommended to replace the piston nut or bolt as the case may be .

So when you order the packing kit order a new one and pick up a 1" drive socket one the way home.

Good luck
