Good afternoon!  I have my #44 hydraulic unit off my tractor for a seal replacement.  What hydraulic fluid is recommended?  I have been using AW32 but it seems extremely slow to raise the blade.  The tractor is a D4 7U36219 and the hydraulic unit is 9W7594.  Thanks again for all the great help I have been given.  Elton

AW32 is correct. My family have all used heavier SAE rated AW oils with success in high hour(worn out!) machines. It all depends on your climate.

anti wear 32 is too thin you want iso68 or better yet caltex textrans tdh which is a universal tractor driveline oil its for the differentials, transmission and hydraulics of most brands of tractors and has cat to-4 approval and can be used in the trans and hydraulics of virtually all the older non power shift machines.

Thanks guys for your assistance! Given the age of the machine and how it has behaved, I think the thicker oil might be the ticket. Elton

[quote]I have on order a Speedi-Sleeve and seals and the necessary O rings. I am debating on removing the pump and checking it out. Does one remove the several bolts that are behind the seal retainer and pull it out? Or does it have something on the inside that must be removed first? Thanks again for the help! Elton

I seem to recall having to take off the main (front) cover, disconnecting some items (probably tubes) before removing the pumps. Wouldn't be a bad idea even if you don' tneed to in order to clean it out. Gasket for the cover is available from Cat.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
