I have a #44 control set up on a D4 that runs a loader. I'm wondering if there is any way to tie (tee) into the system so I can utilize the hydraulics for other attachments😕 Could I tie into one of the circuits that run the loader and hold open that valve,and run the lines to my attach. valve? Most came with a switch over valve near the loader controls to switch for using a hyd ripper are you sure yours dosnt have one already

Depends on what you want to run. I have my single valve #44 tied into two diverter valves to run my three point hitch which gives me three working circuits. One for the lift cylinders and two for optional working cylinders.

For cylinders it works fine but I don't think I'd try or recommend a hydraulic motor operation with the #44 unit.

Willie,I don't see a switch over valve. OM I'm thinking just hyd. clylinders maybe a small backhoe attach. or a log spliter. So OM, install a diverter valve in a circuit, and hold that valve open on the #44 and that should supply my remotes ??? quinq

There are a couple of ways you can do this .One is a 3 way select valve you tap into the main pressure line from the pump and a manual or electric 3 way valve diverts the oil to where you want it. This is a cheap option but the disadvantage is you can only use the function where the oil is flowing. The other is if your DCV "directional control valve " is open centre you can tap into the tank line there and run that to the other valve. Be carefull that the other valve is open centre too or you will have oil blowing over relief all the time. Third option is a priority flow valve this will split the oil flow to both DCV'S and you can opperate both valves at once. One let down with this it will slow the functions down as you are divideing the oil volume.

The diverter valve just shifts circuits. You would work the control lever same as normal with two direction control. Tying the lever back would give you one direction control or a source for another control valve with return to the #44.

Keep in mind these are low pressure, high volume systems, requiring large lines and cylinders and are not well equipped to deal with a lot of heat from fluid friction from continuous operation.

Works fine for dozer/loader operation, a backhoe attachment, opening and closing or lifting a disc, ripper, 3-pt, etc. Log splitting is a definite heat builder and would require monitoring a temp. gage and shut downs for cooling.

Does your loader use the two spool valve #44 or the single spool valve type feeding a set of loader valves?

Would there be any need for simultaneous loader and accessory circuits to be in use at the same time?

Thinking about it more, if you divert a circuit to something that tends to leak down, you might go crazy switching the diverter back and forth to keep all the balls in the air so to speak. I expect the diverter on my 5J dozer was probably intended for diverting the dozer lift cylinder circuit mainly when the dozer had been removed and the cylinders were still mounted and perhaps bolted to the mounting brackets so they couldn't flop around.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

ccj, no separate loader valve,valve and pump all one unit mounted on front of machine. OM I would have to have a diverter valve on each line of the circuit...correct??How much pressure does the #44 run at?? Does it have a pres. relief? Thanks quinq

Depends on how may auxiliary circuits your after. To get one extra diverter circuit you need to plumb one complete circuit (supply and return) through the diverter valve. The diverter valve will have six port connections. I'm using the Prince Mfg. Co. valve available from www.surpluscenter.com

Shifting the lever moves you from one circuit to the other. What ever other cylinders are involved will be left in hold position until you shift the lever back.

The #44 units run at a working pressure of 1000 psi and yes they have a relief valve set at 1200 psi.
Most modern hydraulic stuff usually runs at least 2,500 psi or higher.
