Hi Team:
The tire shop just called and said my #40 scraper wheels have been completed. I wondered what the correct size and tread pattern are supposed to be. I’m cheapin’ out on this deal, don’t know whether to just hang some 11.00-20 recaps on, or get some Virgin tires (bias ply). NOT going to get the nice Michelin radials at $1475.00 each!!!
I can easily get ribbed or military style tread; haven’t looked for the diamond patterned ones yet.
It probably needs to be non directional, as I don’t want OIH and Jan Meermans start on me about grader tires again Lol.
Some help here would be appreciated. If all goes right, the scraper will make it to SM. JM

I have absolutely no idea which is the best tire for functionality, but I vote the diamond pattern for the 'Cool 😖mokin: Look' factor!

Okay, D4e and C$$$ you guys win. I’m on the prowl for 12.00-20 diamond tread. Goodyear hasn’t made any of them in awhile, I’m hoping I can get something. The wheels came out nice. Powdercoated schoolbus yellow with silver lock rings.

My bad. I had some pics on another thread. I didn’t take pics of my refurbished wheels... originality is what I’m striving for. I wanted to make it look “cool” with super singles, but got voted down. To keep the peace, we will go for the “old” look. Thanks

At least there 20” rims. The 40 scraper I sold to Paso Bob had 21” rims.

Do we have to wait till SM to see the new tires and rims?

Early #40's used 11.0 x 20 x 12 ply tube type tires.
1W5664-up used 12.0 x 21 x 12 ply tubeless tires.

Juiceman; Have seen the diamond pattern on tractors that are used on golf courses, should be available somewhere!

after talking with one of my chapter members he's got 20 ply tires out from a tire guy in NV that sold to a mine in Arizonan he think's they run them on R30 rigid frame trucks. anyways what is seen in the bad pic that i have of the tires where exact mach other than the manufacturer of the tire. this 40 and d4 combo only has 350h on it. maybe you could order with different teds patterns from the factory but this is what was factory on this 40.

Thanks everyone. I’m fortunate not to have the 21” wheels! I think my options are better, but still limited. As mentioned, I am able to get some such as the ones Mog showed in the pics, but very pricey. D4e has similar ones on his “Cadillac” 60 scraper.
Let’s see if we make it to SM with the 40 in time.
