Using the 49 3T last night to try and shore up a failing tank levee, turning left has become a chore. Forst i noticed that with left lever pulled and brake hit the engine almost dies before starting to turn. Ok, must be steering clutch not disengaging. Well this morn went out to check booster oil level and there is hyd oil pooled up all over case top and when i pull left lever hyd oil bubbles up out of the "freeze plug" covers over the interal linkage. Just the left one. Rightsode is fully functional. Whats the deal here.

I rebuilt mine on my 47 3t last winter not a bad job mine was leaking into the left brake housing
the seals and plugs can be bought thru local parts stores
mine had rust on the left shaft which made it hard to get off the dozer
of course u will have to pull the seat/tank to get it out and end

So its just a bunch of orings and a freeze plug i assume. Seems like its like a spool valve and the slide rod is leaking oil past and pressurizing the case body and blowing out that freeze plug

There are no o-rings involved with the control valve. I suspect a problem with the internal valve stem or spring that is preventing oil flow from being returned to the booster sump.

OM mentions the spring which on my D7 had both springs out of place causing no or sometimes some boost. Ssems for some reason they can unseat causing jaming and valve issues. I replaced both Springs with aftermarket units as the Cat ones were totalled.

Not a huge job. Just time🙄
