I am soon to start assembly of the engine for my 943 loader, Block with new sleeves to be picked up this week, fresh ground crank is already in shop. A regal parts kit is on hand.

Its a 3204 Direct inject  serial 45V42046 arangement 1W7263

machine 943 serial 04Z00461

I would like to buy or down load the proper book for engine assembly that will give the tork values and tolerances. There seems to be a varity available.

I have also read about revised head torking procedures, I believe this is a cat publication but I cant find anything on it in the cat SIS system. I may be challenged in my search abilities.

This is my first Cat diesel rebuild  and would like to be successfull. Any pointers are welcomed.

is it common practice to re-size the connecting rod big end, to ensure roundness?  i know it is with gasoline engines, but what about diesels?

-good luck with the rebuild Steve!

It's the small end that will give trouble, either re-con connecting rods or new if you want it to last

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
