I have a D311 gen set, oddly they made 2 different d311, the earlier 311 started at a 20 KW unit that ran at 1200 rpm, then 30 KW at 1800 rpm these units had the injector pump on the left looking from the gen end and a totally different unit that had the injector pump on the right that I know little about.
Does yours look like this ?
Hi Richard,
your engine should have a Safety Shutoff System fitted and we will likely need some pictures so we can determine which type is fitted. Then we can advise you as to the re-set proceedure so you can overcome the rack shutoff to enable the engine to be started.
Usually requires setting a lever or plunger to allow the rack to be operated. From memory the shutoff usually dumps oil pressure to stop the engine, so it needs resetting.

Many thanks for the super quick reply. Now for my first attempt to post pictures. not having any luck figuring out to up load pictures. I re-sized them to about 150kb not sure what or how your up load system works

No it does not look like yours. The one at Snug Harbor does not have the exciter and the diesel looks different too. I am still trying to post pictures
