Happy Mothers Day !
Servicing a ''new to us'' Cat 235 excavator.

We got most of it complete and then found the SWING GEAR and pan area , clean, dry , no grease.

Whats up here ? My book says 10 gallons of grease.

The teeth look great . So no damage done .

Hi,
welcome to the BB.
The swing pan and gear are indeed loaded from the factory with that volume of grease--and the gear teeth are supposed to be re-lubed with grease at regular Service Intervals--seems most people use a suitable piece of board/paddle or stick to re-distribute clean grease from the pan to the big gear teeth by swinging the House around a few degrees at a time.
After a while new grease needs to be added.
Seems like on yours some work was done in that area and not refilled--we used to do the big gear and pan before we put the top/house/upper structure back on--or heaven forbid it was missed at the factory.

We found most clients were not aware of the swing gear pan servicing cover -- in under the boom mount area--if I recall correctly.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
