Wondered if all 22s had a fuel pump. I know parts book shows one. Mine has a homemade plate covering where it should mount. Just has gravity feed to carb now and seems to run just fine.

I believe the newer ones did, not sure of the change date. The only time you will have a problem is going up a steap hill with low fuel in the tank

I have a early series and it has a fuel pump. Rebuild kits are available.

A lot of twenty twos had the pump bypassed by the owner/operator when they failed, so you see a lot of them set up that way.

I have to go uphill in some areas when I disc the weeds down so gravity feed didn't work for me. I installed a small electric pump and battery and that has worked out well. The battery will last about 5 hours before needing a charge and that is plenty for the small area that I do.

My Cat runs fine but for future reference, who has the rebuild kits for these pumps?

Gravity works ok on flat ground and if you go up hills you have to keep the gastank full. All 22s had feulpumps the early were brass pumps and the dia. bolts on so all you need to do is cut one out of the proper material, the later used potmetal pump and it has same interal parts as a 50s-60s ford pump or carter pump on chevy. I think John Matta has the parts also. I was getting them from from the woodpecker guy in So Cal Clay Smith Racing Cams they use same dia in they high volume racing pumps. $12.
