[quote="dsburdell"]G’day,
I’m in the process of fixing up a 212 grader,
I’m getting the cab fixed up and the battery box beside the seat is not original and we are making another one ,
and it also has no seats,
If some one could send me some photos of their battery box and seats would be much appreciated,
Attached are some photos of her so far
Cheers

Dan, you are quite ambitious! I love it. I have a '51 212 with cab, if you pm me your email address I will try to sent what every measurements you need.
Do you really want the battery in the cab??
I operated Austin Western 300 Pacers plowing snow, the batteries were under the seat. Many pairs of pants were eaten by the acid ( yard I was assigned to had 13 graders, all AW's) and a couple of cases where shorted wires caused the accumulated Hydrogen to explode.
I would certainly rethink the position of the battery box. The risk is not worth taking.

The battery box on my 212 next to the seat is in fairly good shape after 65 years. I will be out to the machine this afternoon and will take and post pictures. The single little 6 volt battery for the pony start has never causes any hardship next to my butt.
Took one of the lead going to the starter out the back of the cab also.![]()
A couple more battery box pictures.![]()
OIH -- I understand why you never had problems with your britches.
Battery box in the 212 is to the side, in the AW's it was under the seat and we had two twelves (4-71 Detroits) - overcharging would really boil em out! Two way radios were wired to batteries and if seat worked lose, cut into the cables, exciting! Of course we nearly lived in those machines, stop for fuel and shift change, one operator got out, the other crawled in. Blade change or tire chain change was only reason to have them shut down.

Hi, Ctsnowfighter.
O-I-H has a 'history' of trying to turn his machines into 'DowNunda' machines while still 'topside' - - - IF you get my drift. With that in mind, did you notice that he hasn't even got his battery clamped in place? Just wund'rin.
Many of the early Euclid dump trucks had the batteries in the cab too, in a box on the right side cab floor. That tended to make life 'interesting' in the event of a rollover to the left, especially if the battery fitters had not anticipated anybody 'going rallying' with them and had failed to clamp the batteries down.
Just my 0.02.
