Same engine as in the "U" model D2's.
Parts are around, a lot still available from Cat. Try Florin Tractor first.
Main engine bearings can be a little tough to come by.

Thank you for info I thought it looked like a d2 but I'm new to the cat world and didn't want to send like a idiot would rather ask and learn than to assume and go know where I fear that cost of repairs are going to exceed what they are willing to spend so I may end up with some Parts for sale

Don't dispair. It can all be fixed. The grader is a very capable machine and well worth the trouble to get it running.

There are some scarce parts for the grader itself, but that is just because there were fewer of them made than many other CAT machines. We had one and broke a part in the steering box. Amazingly a new one was available from CAT, but a whole used box was cheaper. Got that through the CAT dealer.

Probably quite a few D311 engines out there that could be put in that grader if they don't want to do an overhaul. With the D2's, the cost of new tracks and other undercarriage is often more than folks want to spend on them, so they sit or are scrapped. Also quite a few out there with stuck steering clutches that folks never repair. Occasionally see a generator set or industrial engine skid for sale that would have most of what you need. Any of the engines from other machines will require some parts swapping (oil pan and oil pump/pickups, maybe governor and clutch housing.

Also lots of information here about converting these engines to direct electric start if the pony requires extensive repairs.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
