Hi anyone got an easy way to remove the rear tire off from the hub assembly? I removed all the nuts/clamps and smacked the back with a sledge hammer with no luck so then I put my backhoe blade on the backside thinking I could jar it off but no luck. Am I missing something or are they just that difficult to remove?

Hi Clayton,

they are usually a mongrel to remove due to the tapered seating between the rim and hub--picture a full circle spider type hub on a truck.

Maybe make up a tooling using a hyd. or a screw jack and apply separation force from the opposite side rim/hub after refitting loosely, a few clamps and nuts, to stop the wheel flying off and damaging something or more importantly someone.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Eddie B.

Hi, Clayton.

LOTTTTZA 'loose juice' and probably a fair bitta patience, maybe the occasional cuss word too. If you still have the original drawbar in place and itza rear wheel on the tandem, a porta power might help. For a front tandem wheel, you might be able to set up a porta power between the main frame and the rim - might be able to do that with the rear tandem too if you jack up the front of the tandem case a little.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of how you might use a porta power onna front wheel.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
