Over time there has been a lot of interest from members in regard to having a "National" show. Late Last year Jim Heater submitted a proposal to have a show in 2026, but due to lack of manpower and Jim's own health that will not be able to happen.
You may not be aware that the Club offers Chapters significant funding to plan and host a National Show.
If there is and interest either in a Chapter, or a group of members to make a show happen in 2026, now is the time to start planning and have a discussion with the BOD.
It takes member interest and effort to make these things happen. Chapter 2 in the UK and the Australian chapters have been able to hold these kinds of shows in their regions successfully, I am sure they would be happy to share their insights and process if asked.
ACMOC can provide funding, but members make it happen.
Let's go!
yes we just had our national rally and while the focus was old machinery in general and particularly steam, there was a fair bit of cat items there.
something that can help is see if your local shire council has a event coordinating team many do to help organise and host community events. many states do too they can help with advice. dont forget corporate sponsors. (with the national rally the major sponsor was new ackland coal they donated 20 tonne of coal for the steam exhibits as one of the ways they supported the event.) if you have a local tourism board or chamber of commerce get them involved getting the word out the event is on and they also know like what accommodation is available things like that so you can provide this info to exhibitors and visitors.
get the local service clubs such as the lions or rotary involved with running a bbq or suasage sizzle, have the volunteer fire brigade do the visitors parking, have the scouts selling drinks etc. and they use the opportunity as a fundraiser.
"i reject your reality and substitute my own" - adam savage. i suspect my final words maybe "well shit, that didnt work"
instead of perfection some times we just have to accept practicality
