It is hard to believe that it has been 6 long years since Best of the West hosted ACMOC in 2017 in Santa Margarita and 15 years since we put on the Best Show on Tracks in Woodland, CA in June of 2008. Well that must mean it is time to do it all over again and bring Best, Holt and Caterpillar collectors back to the beautiful Central Coast of California for the 2023 rendition of the ACMOC National Show.

Paso Robles Pioneer Day and the Rossi Foundation will once again be your hosts at the beautiful Santa Margarita Ranch. We have hotel blocks which we will post this week but Memorial Day hotel rooms on the Central Coast can be expensive. We encourage visitors from afar to look into Air BNB and VRBO accommodations and to hook up with your buddies to book a house together. Several of you who have contacted me have already booked houses and some of the prices have been downright affordable. For those of you with RV’s and trailers we will once again have plenty of on-site camping.

The ACMOC dinner will be on-site this year as our team is working with Jan Meermans and Jim Heater. Details will emerge shortly.

For those of you who have not ventured to the Best of the West before, we pride ourselves on being hospitable and present the most complete lineup of running Best and Holt tractors of any show that we are aware of with lots and lots of Caterpillar tractors, graders, scrapers etc. We also have a great lineup of early Prairie Tractors and smaller steel wheeled tractors from manufacturers such as Gas Traction, Avery, Minneapolis, Sawyer Massey, International Harvester Mogul and Titan, Rumely, Aultman Taylor, Pontiac, Johnson, Deere and many others.

We will have parades each day, a dirt digging pit with lots of equipment, plowing, a large military display with a program Friday, Saturday and Sunday at noon to honor our fallen service men and Women, planes, trains including the original Disneyland coaches, kids play area, gas engines, antique trucks etc.

We have a room block at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Atascadero. They were considerably less expensive than Holiday Inn Express in Atown for the same nights. Tell them ACMOC and Best of the West. If any issues Elaina Jardini is the Sales Manager.

We will be having an Aumann Vintage Power auction at the show. It will be an online only sale ending Saturday of the show at 4 pm. It will be an extend one extend all meaning it will go on after 4 pm.

We will be working with Aumann to get the website up this week. We have some great stuff to include Best, Holt, Cat and other brands of crawlers, wheel tractors to include Rumely, Oliver, IH, Fordson and more. We have some California engines and a group of really nice horse drawn wagons that will sell as well. The auction will be absolute.

We will be adding sale items as we secure them. Since Friday we have added a really nice 977 with 4 in one bucket and rippers that runs and drives well and has outstanding u/c, a small vibratory tow behind sheep's foot compactor, really clean D4D, wide PV 15, Wide propane 30, wide D2 and a wide 22. We are working on lots more cats, a super clean early Cletrac diesel, Cat D4 orchard and many more.

This may not be a question for you, but hopefully someone else will know. Will there be a formal ACMOC member meeting at the show? It seems like most National shows in the past have had one, but I have not seen it mentioned either way. If there is, will there be a webcast or telepresence option?

Dave, there are no plans for a formal meeting of members due to the limited number of members that can attend. I would like to see us have an informal meet'n greet so that members that are there have the opportunity to connect and reconnect. I am looking forward to meeting members in person!
