Hi all,
Jim Duffy ("chumduffy") and his family are generously hosting their annual playday in their hometown Smethport PA on Saturday and Sunday June 10 and 11 2017, the weekend before Father's Day. All are welcome to observe and operate equipment, ranging from crawlers and dozers to scrapers, graders, trucks, draglines and more.
The playsite is across the road from the Duffy, Inc. yard on East St. / Rte 6 - https://www.google.com/maps/place/41°48'40.7%22N+78°25'27.1%22W/@41.811301,-78.4263867,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d41.811301!4d-78.424198
If you attend, please make sure to say hi to chum - you'll recognize him because he'll be wearing the biggest grin on-site.
Posted with permission from Jamie, chum's daughter, who some may remember from the 2016 Best of the West show when she presented a D8 14A to Jan Meermans, who back in the mists of time operated this machine (Ol' Dick) in NY, made possible by the fantastic generosity of chum and 7upuller.

Bring the kids and make a day (or two) of it! For those that might fly from the left coast, Buffalo NY and Pittsburgh PA are closest larger airports. Lodging is available in Smethport, and close by in Bradford PA, and further afield in Olean NY

Thanks for Sharing Neil; and big thanks to Jim and the rest of the Duffy family. I just want to say that they are some of the NICEST folks a person could meet. Should be lots of fun. JM

Possibly Jan. Jamie isn't sure if he has locked it in or not.

Is there any room for parking with a little 25 ft. 5th wheel camper? It would be a fun trip.

Remembering the photo's from last year of the area, I would guess that there should be no problem finding space for a "little" 25 footer! (Thanks to Neil's photographic talent!)

Hi Roger, Jamie says you're more than welcome to park your trailer on-site.

By the way, Jan and Glen, Jamie and AJ are expecting their first child in June, right about around the playday. Fantastic result for them both and I'm sure Jim's "chuffed"duffy now! Congrats all round : )

Hey Neil,

Can you pass on the Congratulations from me please. :high5: Are there enough chairs in the visiting room? :confused2: Nothing like 327 visitors all greased out with dirty faces! Will the nurse understand Garlic Brand Clothing? Will the stroller be a 931? :tongue1:

Congratulations AJ and Jaime! Chum and Mrs. Chum too!

Just thinking - What if?

Can a hospital bed be put in the bowl of a DW 21 scraper and then have a mid-wife attend the mother to be? All the visitors could clamber up on the wishbone arms to peek in at the "little one". The "little one" would have an undisputed Caterpillar birthright. This setup would be a bit more comfortable than the seat of a D8 2U which I also thought about.

Naw. I better quit thinking-
