Truck I drive in fall when I help during apple season has a cat c10. Parked after got done with corn, sil noticed that oil pressure was down some at idle last couple of loads. SIL had to travel to get new apple bins this past week, this is the truck usually hooked to the drop deck, checked oil and was way too full. Smelled oil and it was full of diesel. Question is where to start looking? I believe that it has a mechanical pump, not sure however. Could it have a seal problem in the pump dumping fuel in the pan? This isn't my truck but trying to pass on info from a knowledgeable group of cat guys

Yea I think the fuel pump, there was a discussion on here a ways back about this problem. Old Mag might remember also.

Hi Team,
another possibility could be the unit injector body to cyl head O Ring seals. Not sure if there are any fuel gallery plugs in head.
These were just coming in as I retired.
Maybe run engine with the valve covers off, and after wiping around the injectors, check for fuel leaks.
Other possibilities exist too that do not come to mind as yet.

Link gives one way to test for dilution leak points.

If the oil level is high, sniff the dipstick. It will probably smell like fuel which can soon turn into a runaway diesel. I have had it happen twice and both times from a cracked diaphram in the fuel pump. I had trouble with the new fuel pump and ended up putting a Napa Auto electric fuel pump on and never had an overfilled sump after that. A runaway diesel is an event that you will not forget. The dilution of the motor oil with diesel is what causes the lower than normal oil pressure. A clear warning sign if you notice it. Grant.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
