My parts 2-ton head does not have the manifold on the left side of the engine (oppisite of the exhaust manifold). I am wating to know if this is an older head? The parts book that I have is a 1956 Caterpillar reprint (Fprm 3685 and it does not have a serial number change on the 2-ton. It just shows the average joe 2-ton and lists it parts. I am wanting to get the information on this head correct in my mind as I am wanting to sell it and I want to know what I am talking about and know what I have before pricing. This head is complete but pretty rusty. Will have pics when listed.

Swishy-Your Two Ton page is quite a piece of work. I had no idea there are so many variations of that tractor. It seems like CAT was built on the attitude that no idea was left on the drawing board. I'll bet many of the variations were started in the shops before they even hit the drawing board.

Reading through a lot of SJ's posts over the past few years, I think tools were developed the same way.

My restoring machine has thie type of head as the ones in the photos on swishys site (wonderful site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) in the bits section. It has the manifold above the spark plugs with the priming cup in it. My parts head does not have this manifold above the spark plugs. It is just solid cast up to the valve cover. The exhoust manifold seems to be the some (I hope anyway as the parts one is in better shape than the one on my restoration machine.
