That project can safely be called a labor of love. Great details. Will you do any special priming (epoxy?), how about noise suppression and insulation? Not trying to be nosy, but curious if you will "upgrade" from factory specifics. Great job so far. JM

I'm trying to keep it as close to original as possible. It had the sound deadening panels in the cab from the factory, that will be all that I'll put back in. I'm planning on having Ziegler Cat paint the machine once its all done. They do a very nice job with high quality paint. I have a 1995 D6H Series 2 that they did a full rebuild and paint on back in 2016. The paint still looks great on that machine. I'll probably paint the components and parts myself as it goes back together, just to get the all the areas they wont be able to reach once its all together.

when you re assemble i suggest bolting that panel back in. you can use nutserts into the frame to hold it. and seal the seams using dmastic windscreen sealer it doesnt set hard. makes repairs easier later.
if you weld it back in use sika 227 to seal the seams inside and out

instead of perfection some times we just have to accept practicality

I'm assuming you're talking about the panel on the back of the cab? I plan on plug welding it back on, just because I want it to be as close to original as possible. I already picked up some weld through primer to put on the back of the ROPS before I weld the panel back on. I will need some kind of seam sealer, so I will look into what you're recommending. Thank you!
