I purchased A 1969 D7E Dozer with a Cab start pony Motor I was hoping some one knew the exact starting procedure. I I have been starting the Pony motor with the main throttle pulled back 1/4 then I pull the lever on the left of the colum out then engage the lever at my right foot from right to left then I re lease the lever on the left. shut down the pony Motor. does anyone know if this is correct? thank you

He should have the compression release lever on start until oil press. comes up then flip to the left on compression to start. If its cold let it run on compression for awhile to warm cylinders up they start so much easier.

Also when starting pony let it idle a bit to warm it up and circulate oil and when shutting off put it back to idle and turn fuel valve off, don't use shut-off switch. This will pro-long pony life. I have been using straight 30W in the summer and 10W-30 in winter in the starting engine.

Yes they have a two speed transmission. very helpful in turning the main engine over at freezing temps. Don't put compression on though when in low range. Shift to high range no comp. run awhile then switch to compression.
