Hello all -- newbie to the site and loving all of the great information!
I just purchased a D7E serial# 48A7052 and I'm having the seller break the blade down for easier transport. They have all other pins removed but they are having a hard time with the 4 lower pins(2 on each side) that attach the side arms to the back of the blade. Any guidance on whether they're just stuck and stubborn or do they have to came out in a certain order/direction? They said they worked with it for a while and couldn't figure it out. They're not a CAT shop with all of the knowledge, just private sellers.

Thanks in advance for any help, Zane

IT'S A YOKE STYLE connection. If they get ethier pin out , the arm will come off. Pins are rusted in the blocks. May have to cut one on each side to get it apart.

Thanks for the input. You know a dumb question is in order 😊 Asside from flipping a coin, any experience on which one comes out easier without a hot wrench? Thanks, Zane

As those pins wear they wind up with offset and mushroomed/stepped shoulders. The top pin is probably rusted in but that's not likely on the horizontal pin. If you have to burn one out I'd say it would be the horizontal one that you can tackle from both ends.

Just in case it helps someone in the future, I'll post back with the outcome. Thanks, Zane

Might be able to put a hyd ram on the pin closest to the blade. Put it between the top brace socket and the pin.

Just heard from the seller. They have a son who's a CAT Mech. He brought over a 30T press to help them out. They said the pressure dial was max'd out and they still had to convince the pins with an 18# sledge. Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I'll be making the drive to pick up the blade now.

Where you from Zane? I just bought a D7E this spring. Hauled mine with the Angle blade on just angled and away we went. You gotta post pictures of it when you get a chance.

I'm in Georgia JoeG. The whole reason for the pin question is because the dozer came with 2 bladed; a 7S and a Chicot V. Apparently, hauling both blades on the same trailer would make too much sense. So, because of the transport laws, it could only be one or the other. FYI, if you have the option, ALWAYS drive AROUND Alabama! Since the V blade is much heavier and cumbersome, I had the seller put the V on the tractor so it could go by semi. I am going to drive to Arkansas and pick up the straight blade with our trailer but need it to be more compact.

Here's a pic. It's got a few superficial blemishes and I've got the heads off right now for rebuild. But, it was the right price and should be in good working order once I'm done lovin' on it. I bought it because it was a one-owner and many parts have been rebuilt/replaced already. i.e. Radiator, turbo, oil coolers, magneto, rollers. It's easily worth more for parts than I have in it right now. Let's hope it stays that way!

Thanks, Zane

Did that use to be a Pine Plantation Stump tractor where they harvest the stumps for the pitch to make turpentine?
