I am looking to bid on 922b for my snow plowing operations, The loader is in good condition owned by local Township. The tires show signs of dry rot and they bypassed the heater core in cab for some reason. I have only seen pics and talked to town Rep. My ? is would this make a good snow pusher with a 12 ft snow block? And a resonable price. The bid is $4100.00 and has 2 weeks to go. Would $6500.00 be a good price? This is not my first loader purchase but don't know about the 922B. Thanks for your pro.advice

We used to have 3 of the 922's,and we used them just for snowplowing. The only thing I could never get used to was the rear wheel steering. But that not the worst.Thinking about the heater hoses, maybe the heater core is shot.We had some old Cat 12 graders and we would replace the old heaters with the new two fans one from Cat.They would blow you out of the cabs.I would check the bucket pins for wear.Good luck, where are you located at.

I am in Geneva, NY Finger lakes Region on Seneca lake. When you were in the 922 plowing snow would you consider it productive? Meaning loss of traction or not being able to make full pass in the lot. Are the new cat heater cores costly. This site were this loader is Auctionsinternational town of Torrey, I bought tons of stuff from this site. The seller has to announce problems with equipment if it is major. I have backed out of deals with bad item description with no problems.

I would look carefully at the steering gear in reaR of machine .Jack up each side ,and see if the wheels are tight on the ball joints . check to see if there is any evidencE of oil leaking from bottom of ball joints .The outer hub is supported by a pin top and bottom .when the pins and bushings or bearing s get worn the axle drops out of alignment ,and takes out the inner axle seal
ALSO,EACH SIDE HAS A KNUCKLE JOINT THAT IS PACKED IN GREASE ,AND HAVE TO BE REPACKED AT A SPECIFIED SERVICE HOURS .
Articulated loaders are more reliable than solid frame loaders
Be intersting to see if the county maintance records show of repacking the steering knuckle joints

I bought my 922B from a local County for $6,000.00 a few years ago and this is the shape it is in. I mostly use it for moving snow at my place and it works very well. I can cook myself right out of the cab with the heater. Since the one you're looking at is from a township, I would guess it's in good shape depending on how long they have owned it. I would say look it over and go for it!
