i don't know if B&E or Laplant Choate made a set up for that late of a dozer or not but if they did then i would think that would be the easiest.

D46U straight blade,D46U cat angle blade,allis chalmers AD4 grader and Khoering 404 dragline. D4C 40A,D4 2T and scraper.

Hi, gwhagedorn.
The particular model of your machine will have a lot to do with the conversion. What is the serial number of your machine?

For any future enquiries, it is best to give the serial number of the machine right at the start 'cos it gives those who want to respond a firm base from which to work on their responses.

Note to BB administrators - do you think it is worth putting up a 'sticky' in BOLD advising people to post the serial number of their machine when posting, especially when posting a query?

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Could you by chance tell me where the SN is on the dozer (I bought this off a high school buddy who's dad had it for 50 years or more.....he didn't even put it on the sale bill...and I wasn't worried, we stood up in each other's weddings!)

I would leave it as a cable operated dozer !! You have plenty of weight to sink that blade deeper than you can push, unless your on concrete!!

Do you by chance know where a guy can find the serial # on this machine? I'm actually wanting to replace the pony motor with electric start. The hydraulic blade is actually my "phase 2" update that I was just starting to research.

the serial # is located in two places---on the mid left rear case above the drawbar---and on the left rear side engine block above the pony control area--should be a riveted tag in each area--if the tag is gone look for the two rivets and the number is stamped in the metal between them

Hi, gwhagedorn.
You should be able to find the serial # a little way down from the top on the rear of the left steering clutch case. There should be an aluminum tag rivetted there or, if the tag is missing it should be stamped into the parent metal under where the tag was as shown by the rivets or rivet holes.

The other places to find the serial number, depending on the model, are on the left side of the engine block toward the rear or, on the later models, E series and onward, there should be a tag on the firewall under the dash.

Once you establish what model you have, Old Magnet's suggestion of finding a dead machine with the parts you need and swapping them over is possibly the easiest way to go. The hard nose which carries the blade lift rams on all Cat-built dozer systems for D7s will swap from one machine to another of the same model.

Just my 0.02. Hope it helps.
