Hello everyone,

Here's some photos of my D8. After two years it's moving again by it selves. It still needs more paint, working lights ect. but it moves. 😖mile:

However. I have one issue with this dozer that kind of worries me. I think that the transmission oil is leaking to final drives. When I tried to open bearing cap or wheel hub at the end of the final drive, that was oozing oil, I couldn't because space behind it filled with oil. Doesn't that mean that final drive is filled almost to the top with oil?

Here's a link to a photo album:

Check your final drive oil level at filler plug, if it is way overfull, then you have transfer. Remember with these tractors the outrigger bearing is lubricated with final drive oil, so you will get some oil loss when you remove cap at end of dead axle.

Here's some short videos:

It has moved

Engine running after re-adjusting valves, no tapping noises anymore.

I don't plan to do any serious contracting with D8, but at my farm there's always something that requires a D8 bulldozer for the job. That's why I has to have one just in case.😆

Perttu, is that the same D8 that you started with the John Deere a couple of years ago? Looking good! How many hectares do you farm, and what do you grow? Cows/sheep/crops? What's your summer been like so far? We've had so much rain this summer it's like it's spring again (in Western New York)
I have a couple of old D2s I'm trying to get going again - taking a long time! : )

Cheers,
Neil

Yes this is the same D8.

The farm is small farm that was pretty regular here few decades ago. 7 Hectares of field and 60 hectares of forest. We haven't grown anything to sell for thirty years but it's nice to eat home grown food. Since we have forest we also sell logs. The farm is more like a hobby and I make my income as maitenance supervisor in a mine.

It usually gets here +30c at hottest at summer and because I live about 200kms south from the arctic circle middle of the summer sun shines almost 24h hours a day. We have snow about 5-6 months of year and it can get about -35C

That's interesting Perttu. I'd love to visit Suomi - I have family in Sweden but it's not the same ; )
Are you near Oulu? My wife is visiting Norway next week and we're planning to bring my family to Europe next year to visit so who knows - maybe we'll pass through your area.
About the D8 - do you plan to leave the cab off it? What other plans do you have to improve it?

Cheers

The world is small. Oulu is in two hours drive from here. I'm located in Sotkamo. If you and your family are in the area you are very welcome visit here or if you like I can give you hints about places to go in Finland.

About the D8. I'm going to repaint it and put new decals on it. Acmoc has decals set for sale. I don't know what their are like but maybe I purchase one for the D8. The cab is so easy to remove and instal that I think i put it on only for winter time. I think she looks better without it.

Today I got my D8 sand blasted and painted with primer. Maybe tomorrow I get some yellow paint on it.

Hey Perttu,

I see you are getting on with the D8 since I visited, you must have felt I embarrassed you too much because you restored and painted that bit of Pommie crap before the D8. I will post the photo of the V8 Nuffield wheel tractor next week so other members can see what you have been up to.

Good you notised.😖mile: All the pommie crap was taking over my cat projects. Now I`m back in balance. Before I get my hands on the D17000 I need to complete some of my projects.
