I recently rescued this D6-9U from the torch. I and an old friend spent about 2 and 1/2 days freeing up stuck and rusty stuff and finally got it running yesterday after at least several decades of sleep. I'm going to need a fan belt adjusting pulley if anyone has a good used one around as this one looks like it was run loose and striped the threads right out of it. The back half just spins and will not tighten. The water pump is fine. Always wanted a D6- 9U. I finally found one with both engines good and an OK undercarriage.

Nice save. Looks like there's a lot of other stuff to look at that place.

The machine serial number is 23721. It has a D-318 engine. Looking in my parts book the hub part number is 4F 6046. The rim number is 1L 648. If someone has a good set on a beat water pump that would sure help out here. Thanks, Dave.

D-6 was a fantastic machine, the 4R before the 9U.
Most considered them too light for the rice fields where the D7 reined along with its red counterparts. Too big for the orchards where D2 and D4 were most prevalent.
Nicely balanced and smooth riding machines!

I notice a chain over the dozer blade - if you intend to pull the tractor, dig a hole under the blade for the chain, it will hold the dozer blade up when you tug on it.

Yes. The chain has been there for many years and is stuck under the blade. The fellow that owned it put it there last time he moved it many years ago. I don't think we will need it as I have it running now. The master clutch is free and I managed to get it into gear and it move back and forth a little. Not much room to do that as there is stuff behind it and a dump truck in front of it that will be moved. The steering clutches are stuck at the moment as I pulled both levers back with it in gear and my feet on the brakes and the machine still wanted to move forward. The fellow that owned it told me he quit running it when the fan belt would not say tight. Also the spool valve in the hydraulic tank is stuck so it will need to come apart when I get it back home on the farm here. We will need to remove the blade to move it so it will not be over width for the ride home.

That looks like a nice straight machine. Keep us updated on the progress.

OK. Thanks. Have to check the part numbers on that with the serial number as some are different. There seems to be overlapping of the part numbers in the parts book. I'm in Copake NY where NY, Mass, and CT all meet.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
