I have a D6 9U serial # 22XXX that I am going to be selling in the next couple of months.
The UC is about 80% and it runs like a top.
What would be a good price range to ask for it?
It has been in the family for 20+ Years.
I am located just East of Baton Rouge La.

Thanks,
John

So clearly you already think you know what it's worth, why are you wasting other people's time asking???? Wrong place to be if you're in it to make profit there mate.

Nothing wrong with wanting fair market price for your machine, but the "scrapyard will pay xxx" is a load of bull ****! Aside from the fact that most folks on here would get rather peeved at someone who sends a good machine to scrap simply for money, there's the fact that your price is completely disconnected from reality. That tractor is probably 12-15 tons with blade and all..... unless I'm much mistaken scrap is somewhere under $100/ton, possibly under $50. Not sure that would have been worth 3k for scrap even 5 years ago when the price was high...

Yeah you might want to get a current quote from the scrap yard, and then see if they'll haul it for free too.

Nice dozer.

First off I would never scrap it.
But $1500 for any good running piece of machinery is
Low for a lawn mower much less a D6.
Ill never give it away for sure.
The root rake is worth that alone.
I just thought someone on this forum may would appreciate
A quality machine in great shape.
Ill just sell it elsewhere.
Some dairy farmer around here will be glad to get it.
Thanks anyway

So what you really meant to ask is "What is the top price I can expect to screw someone into paying for this tractor because I'm all about $$$$"

Clearly you already have your mind made up you're in it for top price... why bother to ask? You're on a forum with a group of folks that are here because they love old machinery and are here to take care of each other.

Even if you felt $1500 was too low, there's no need to be insulting about it.

Hi, 22rimfire.
I hafta say that I am with Jaluhn here. Regardless of what the real/market value might be or what you can get somebody to pay for it, I thought your flying pig emoticon in your reply to Lady Cat Skinner was insulting. She made an offer and invited discussion. Your response struck me as being just plain rude.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

hey 22rimfire dont worry about what people say on here to much if you put what you thought was a fair price they would pick it apart this is broken thats crook this no good just gotta think it was only a week or so ago on here a fella put up about a D6 like yours for $1000 that he has come across but doesnt run and hasnt run for years but had fairly good walking gear we were all telling him me included it was a bargain and snap it up before some one else does

now their giving you hard time for a machine thats running and has good walking gear because you knocked back $1500 theres just no pleasing some people they knock you for saying no to $1500 they also knock you for asking what a fair price if they were honest they would agree $1500 is way to cheap
They can also go on about what they reckon scrap price blah blah blah it doesnt matter you asked for a fair price well if it was in this wide brown land $15000-$20000 would be a fair price for one in good nick so I guess about half that for in the US would be about right

And also remember even if you did chuck it on the scrap bin no doubt the same crew would knock you for that as well

so dont take it to heart you do what you think is right people will always knock no matter what you do

good luck with it all

Paul

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
