Groove out the crack almost to the bottom and then weld the groove up with 1/8" 7018 rod. Bushing will probably have to be made. Material is available fro McMaster-Carr Co. They have an on-line catalog. John
Always preheat meatl when using 7018 and make sure metal is clean.

Metal, LOL!
ROME/KG.....thanks for the reminder on the preheating of the metal....
Hey Cysco, The bushing is a press fit, removable bushing. I didn't tell you that you had to clean the weld area prior to welding as I fhought the grooving of the metal would clean it out, and common sense would tell a welder not to use 7018 on dirty or rusty metal. If such was the case, I would recommend 6010 in the dirty areas as it digs in much more than the 7018. Good luck with your project. John
OLDPARKER.....I have been removing parts and either sandblasting or wire brush on a grinder to clean off all the old paint, rust, etc. The metal will be clean for sure. I am not an expert welder but I will ask the "dumb" questions to make me smarter.... 😊
The bushing material I am at a loss for. I went to the website you recommended and really didn't know what I was looking for and then there are the correct dimensions which I don't have.......doesn't anyone make that bushing anymore ?
