My dozers clutch keeps slipping every time I disengage the clutch when it's running. I recently had to put in a new clutch disk, not sure if I didn't put something back together right or what (pretty sure it's all back right, it was fairly simple).

Clutch feels good when its set. I tighten the screw as tight as I can. It engages and disengages fine before its started. But the first time it's disengaged while running, the clutch "arms" get backed way off and has to be readjusted.

I suspect the adjustment collar is worn to the point where the clamping doesn't hold which allows it to self adjust/tighten on it's own.

That was kind of my thinking as well... Just don't know how to check it..... I wasn't sure if this is a common problem with a new disk until it gets "broke in"??

Hi, Gruberguy.
Once you have the clutch adjusted and tightened - and BEFORE you start the engine - try tapping the adjustment around further or backing it off with the clamp done up tight. If you can move it under these conditions, that is most likely your problem.

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Going to order a collar today... I was able to play with it a bit last night, got it set and really was unable to move the collar, but, first time taking it out of gear, it backed way off..... Got it reset and used it to pull out my backhoe that was stuck and the collar tightned WAY up, so it must be worn as you guys stated..... Once again, I sure do appreciate all the help with my machine!!

One other thought is whether the locking pin is free to fully extend into the lock holes, and whether the lock holes are clear so that the pin can drop right in (I'm assuming the D4 clutch is like the D2 clutch?)
Cheers,
Neil
