actually tried that yesterday started off as it wasnt getting much of a spark than it started sparking in the wrong place. it started sparking off the spring instead of the points which i didnt understand. messed with it alittle a few mins ago managed to loose 2 of the screws trying to put the points back on with just a drop light have to start again tomorow. im thinking i might have to replace the points again.

With new points and condenser and the run test you should be good to go. Do a cleaning of the points as oxidizing of the contacts is the most common reason for no go. You can check for actual continuity across closed points if you lift the wire that goes to the upper LH corner of the mag. If that doesn't get it you must have the point spring grounded somewhere to see arcing there.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
