1941 D2 5J No Fuel Pressure

Hello this is my first post on the forum, We got a 1941 D2 5J serial number 5J3614SP Engine serial number 5E5736, so obviously not matching, I still don't know what the engine I from. But anyway when I turn the engine over with the pony I get no fuel pressure, I took apart the fuel pressure guage and tested it, it works, I cleaned the filter tower blew out the lines and ports, tore apart the fuel pump and made sure everything was clean and clear. Everything from the fuel tank to the tower is clear. And the pressure relief valve is not stuck open. New filters. But when I turn the engine over the fuel never even gets halfway up the tower. So I assume the pump is bad. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Sounds like a lift pump. Is any fuel coming out of the bypass lines or "atmospheric vent?"

Nope no fuel from bleeders or vents.

What was the condition of the relief valve?

AmosMK, sad to say that my 3J gets half way up the gauge when running on low idle, around 3/4 throttle its near the top part of scale, spinning on pony lucky to be quarter on gauge so it is just above the warning part

Honestly not bad, a bunch of rust and gunk but it all cleaned up good. Do you think the spring is old and weak?

Im not sure maybe Neil would have better knowledge on valve and spring, when I last changed filters I had to put a little air pressure (5psi) in the tank to help push fuel back thru system to prime again

Yea I pressurized the tank a little bit and I think that primed it but I'm only getting about a 1/4 inch on the guage. So assuming the pressure relief is functioning correctly then I guess that's all the pump can ouput.

At least some pressure now, not a lot but I know that my machine will start, maybe try to bleed the pumps to see if you have fuel getting there, I had to bleed the pumps and the injector lines and wait a bit longer before it started coughing to run.
