Anyone out there know if the steering clutches on the 2 Ton are multiple discs or other? Just got the unit mobile today and found that I can't steer it. Tractor has all the symptoms of seized up clutches. Brakes do not seem to work either. If anyone has a parts book pic of the clutch I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Larry.

Drain all the oil from the transmission and replace it with diesel or kerosene to the correct level, then try again, clutch and brakes run in oil on the 2 Ton and makes them really hard to steer initially, once you get them free run a light straight weight oil in the transmission. When you get under the transmission to drain the oil you will notice there are actually about 5 drain plugs, open them all up, it allows you to drain each compartment better, remember not to drive the tractor too far with the kero or diesel once you have everything free and turning.

Mike is right on the oil. If somebody put gear oil or any heavy weight oil in the trani you never will get it to turn correctly. The trani oil should be the same weight oil as used in the engine.

Many thanks Ken, I have been draining the oil and will try getting the old girl cleaned out. Cheers, Larry.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
