I’m moving a rock crusher Tracy Ca to Las Vegas. They wouldn’t let me get close to it since I didn’t have all my PPE on. Hoping some of you can explain how it works.

I’m assuming a funnel would go on top so a loader or conveyer belt could feed it. The two big electric motors probably turn two different cam shaped wheels that break the rocks up. Am I on the right track?

Some sort of a high speed impact style cone crusher.
See this document:

Have you been home lately?

Garlic Emily graduated with a Petroleum Engineering degree and is working for Barry Petroleum.

Thanks for the link DD.

That’s awesome Emily is working at Berry. Is she working in Taft or the big Bakersfield office?

I drive under Mercer authority. Mercer is a huge brokerage company with no company trucks. Just owner operators, about 2,500 open deck and about 2,500 vans. Mercer is like Landstar but Landstar has about 9,000 owner operators.

I’m Currently doing a little loop of USA. Get all my loads off Mercer’s load board. I pick and choose where I want to go. They pay me 1/2 when I pick up the load and other 1/2 when dropped off. They have to wait months to get paid. As a lot of you know some companies really slow paying there bills. Like FedEx.

I started in Los Angeles to Jacksonville Fl. (Saw Air Force One at Daytona 500)
Jacksonville Fl to Farmville NC
Farmville NC to Rochester NY
Rochester NY to Denver Co
Denver Co to Colorado Springs Co
Colorado Springs Co to Billings Mt
Billings Mt to Colony Wy
Colony Wy to Oakland Ca
Oakland Ca to Tracy Ca
Tracy Ca to Las Vegas (currently load)
Las Vegas to Cedar City Ut
Cedar City Ut to Bakersfield Ca (should be home this Friday)

My little dog has gone potty in every continental state except Alaska. LoL

Nice you can link all your runs together. Is trucking a hard business to break into as an owner operator? Seems like it from what I’ve read.

Dizz, pretty easy if you got a little bit of money $25,000 and CDL. Leasing to Landstar, Mercer, Bennett ect makes it much easier running under their authority. They have agents in every state that make all the sales and brokerage the loads. Plus they have good business relationships to keep us busy. They also do all my registration, insurance, fuel taxes, permits, ect. All we gotta do is have common sense and meet our deadlines. Pretty easy. We get big fuel discounts. Usually save $100 every fill up.

I could make 18-25% more if I run under my own authority and do all my paperwork. But I would loose insurance and fuel discounts also have to hustle up my own loads. No thanks!! If you are thinking about it open deck pays best. I do flat bed because it’s everywhere. Van work pays the least. Door swingers aren’t required to do any manual labor so it pays poor.

Neil, it was windy snowy terrible cold weather. Don’t understand why you live there. LoL Sorry I didn’t reach out to you.

Another rock crusher staging at the Vegas show.

Sounds like summer then : ), those are exactly the reasons I live here - not going to run out of water, have wildfires, or gators (that would be Ohio instead : )
That said, I do like the change of seasons - it get stinking hot here in summer, nice and humid just the way I like it. D4Angelo is a huge fan, right Angelo? Angelo? I swear I heard him say that....
Plus we all have a place down in FL when it gets a bit grim.

Open deck work is fun because I like equipment like the rest of you :humble:

The Las Vegas trade show at the convention center has a lot of displays inside. That seems like a deterrent for attending with the coronavirus scare.

Dizz, I bought a cheap trailer for starters. Thinking of putting some aluminum wheels on it 👍

I was wondering if you had to supply your own trailer. Is there limits on how old your tractor and trailer can be? I’ve seen that on certain businesses that hire owner/operator.

Volvo, Mack and other vendors have already announced they are backing out and not sending personnel to Conexpo this year. I hear Volvo got a ton of equipment there already so speculation is that there may be an unmanned display. They must have already spent a lot of money that is probably not recoverable.
