I have one lube for life idler with a square plug in it and one button style on the other side. Can I take the button out and run oil in it too or is it different? Also what is the dipstick length for the clutch? The dipstick I have shows the clutch overfull by 3" and I see no oil in the housing.. Maybe the wrong dipstick? I plan on draining it and refilling with 17 quarts when I get a chance.

Idlers are different, life time has roller bearings, button head unit is bushing. Use 30wt engine oil in the LT units, "OO" grease in the button head units.

Don't have the answer on the dip stick.

the transmission dipstick on this one is 21.5" from top of lid to bottom of stick. It is the round flat lid, original I presume.

I assume you are talking about the front idlers, not the top rollers, if so, the bearings are the same but the lifetime has duo-cone seals and the grease type has bellows seals which are not designed to hold 30W oil in. The lifetime top rollers have taper roller bearings instead of plain bearings but the two types also have different seals, the same as the front idlers and bottom rollers.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
