It is very similar to a 12E with larger tires, turbo and a 14 foot moldboard. The turbo was added to develop more horsepower to offset the increase in moldboard size. It would be a nice acquisition if it is in decent shape.

Hi D2 Cody.
Paso Bob summed it up pretty well. I have never operated one but, by all the reports I have heard, they were/are a good grader. This ar-tickle might give you a few pointers on what to look for if you decide to go and inspect it.

Just my 0.02. Hope it helps.

Hi D2 Cody,

I think they ran the blade lift planetry gearboxes up the front of the grader frame. If so, the are similar to the 14 E. Last one I played with they were very hard to gears for, I have seen the gears break in them.
Have a GOOD look around the gearbox case for any cracks, particularly around the intermediate pinion shaft bearing holders that drives the bullgear.

Cheers djcat

Hi, djcat.
I could be wrong - it has been known to happen - but I think the front-mounted blade lift came out starting with the 14Es. They also had the modified control box with the control levers mounted on top of the box instead on the rear of the box. Cat introduced that system to the 12s and 112s with the 'F' series - which we didn't get many of DowNunda. I only ever saw ONE 112F and it belonged to Houlihan Contracting in Perth.

Just my 0.02.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
