8T17677 12 grader has a stuck clutch. It is a wet clutch model. I can grind it into first gear and use it as normal but with the pedal depressed fully it never releases. Whats my fix?
Check to make sure your clutch brake has one: either no material lining left or I’ve seen the entire assembly broke/vibrated apart.
These graders are known for the master clutch sticking... I know because mine did. The No. 12 grader has a pressure plate and disc similar to auto/truck clutches. In other words, they don't have the "over the center" clutches found in the track layers. In my case, the clutch disc material "stuck" to the pressure plate and the flywheel. I had to remove the engine, and when I pulled the pressure plate from the clutch disc and the clutch disc from the flywheel it sounded like separating "velcro". Before you remove the engine, be sure the clutch is adjusted properly. The Serviceman's Manual describes the adjustment process.
Also have that issue with 21F. Has been suggested some oils are the culprit. Start engine and warm it up a bit, then push start the grader in a working gear and work it hard for long enough to get some heat ito the cluth area while pushing clutch pedal often,it will eventually break free. Easier said than done as you need a long run and room to turn around without stopping. Not in the owners manual but I now park with a piece of wood holding pedal down a bit. Best option is use it more often. good luck WF
