I unfortunately blew the number 1 rod out of my 1950 D7 3t today, how hard is it to pull the complete engine out?

Threw a bearing or did you run until it went through the block?

I would think you are a bit beyond some bacon rind and baling wire to get you home.

The tractor had a bad head gasket or a cracked head and used to allow a small amount of water into cylinder number 1, I went to start the tractor after taking some time to get the pony started and it hydro locked and broke the rod sending it through the pan.

But nobody answered his question. I cannot remember if the clutch is separated from transmission like a D6 of that vintage with a drive shaft or not. If it is, it's not a hard job. Just need good lifting equipment. If no exposed drive shaft it takes more standing on your head, and fishing around in the case to find fasteners.

The engine is separated from the transmission/clutch by removing the clutch links/thermoids and clutch drive pins, pretty easy if the engine turns over to access all the links.
