Wtb rear pto driven hydraulic pump

Did Cat or an aftermarket supplier ever offer a hydraulic pump that was driven off a rear pto unit. My D4 has a rear pto and I want to pull a brush hog with it but need rear hydraulics. I have a #41 front pump but it only has one line and I don’t want to remove the blade. Thanks

BeGe and LaPlante Choate offered rear-mounted pumps but I don't think they used the rear 540 pto accessory. Surpluscenter has modern 540 pto pumps that you could use if you were willing to add a tank, valve, rear remotes, and the tubing to hook it all up. Looks like you could put it all together for under 1k, maybe 800. You wouldn't be able to also use a pto -powered implement at the same time though, at least with the pumps that I was looking at

Note that the rear PTO or rear mounted pump will only run while the clutch in engaged! it might be easire to add a valve and another 2 way splitter to use the front pump for both the blade and the rear attchment?

You should be able to put a valve to put your hydraulics to the rear of your machine. Your front pump has to have two hoses/pipes because there has to be a return line. If your blade tends to leak down when using the rear hydraulics you can chain it up when using the rear. That is much easier than removing the blade every time you want to use an implement and you dont lose the use of your PTO if it is needed. Just my 2 cents worth. Grant.

GrantJ, I like your idea. Did CAT make a splitter valve for a D4 6U that will fit into my existing lines without having to modify them a bunch. I like to keep things original if I can. I've seen a splitter valve but it was for a later D4's and would take quite a bit of modification.

Hi Micheal,
Yes Cat did make a diverter valve I have one on my 7U to operate the rippers. If you talk to John Parks a Tractor Parts in Boise Idaho he might have some of a tractor.

A BeGe 1000 or a 1400 pump would work good on a D4. Call Associated Tractor in Stockton Ca they have a lot of pumps and they sell BeeGee Parts

i use the caterpillar supplied diverter valve to run rear hydraulics on my D4-6U. does your tractor already have a caterpillar blade attachment? with the front mount hydraulics? could be you already have everything you need?

And a lot of tractors came with the diverter valve even if they only had a blade, like my 5U. All I'd need is the piping to the rear and I'd be in business for a trailed implement
