The auction of Walter Fry Equipment will be held on October 30 and 31, 2015 in Hellam, PA

Friday will be Caterpillar items, blacksmith items and horse drawn items. The JD items are being sold on Saturday.

I wonder if they will offer the cat parts in a bulk bid, or will it be sold one piece at a time.

Knowing this auctioneer, not too much will be grouped together to sell.

Pop and Dave Wintermute stopped by today to look around. Not everything is out yet, but they both saw plenty of interesting items. Some things still in their shipping crates.

I will let you know how it goes. We will be there all day. This is a sale that you need multiple people to be at because of running three auctioneers at the same time.

I will be attending on Friday looks like a lot of good stuff but almost need a parts book to know what most in the boxes go to. Jason

The small parts were still in boxes and sold on the typical auction cardboard tray, mainly bearings seals and special bolts , and they were going cheap, typical $10-$20 a tray , if I was a reseller of parts I would have had a field day , I was hoping for some D2 engine parts such as pistons rings and so on , but there was nothing like that, I didn't stay for the selling of the D 2 or the large stuff such as pony blocks ,belt pulleys , sprockets,I can imagine that they went cheap , the pony blocks were used and the bores had a layer of rust , I did get a new fuel pressure gauge , a tray of oddball springs and carb floats for a pony and some seal kit, and a rebuilt fuel pump for a D2, and I was surprised there were only about 15 people bidding on the parts

The auction had a lot of good items at it. I bought about fifty parts and operation manuals mostly all the TEN to through the RD5 manuals and I couldn't believe the highest I paid was 30 dollars a book. Some books I bought for 10.00 a stack. I got a set of attachment parts books that cover the cat TEN to a RD8. I was excited! I have a Thirty Five that I got a new condition parts book for that I thought I would have to pay three to four times more for. The D2 went for around 2300 to 2400 and the large hit and miss engine went for around thirty thousand. They had some large misc. parts sell at the end like a new old stock D2 radiator in crate for I believe around 500 to 800 dollars and then all the other items that were at the end like belt pulleys and sheet metal was all over but not at all way over priced. A lot of good deals but I can say all the memorabilia all went HIGH. I know because I bid on most of it and came in second. The large sign went for 3500.00 and all the posters went for 500 - 1100.00 a piece.

All I saw of the memorabilia auction was when they were selling a small picture of Mr Fry with a D2 for $75, that's when I said oh well and went back to the other auction they had goin on,,lol

The first one I was blown back by was the sign for 3500 then I knew the high dollar ride was on for the memorabilia. Nice purchase on the gauge I watched it sell and thought you did well I bought the water temp and the other fuel pressure gauge.

The D2 with a bad rear seal went for $2,250 and the York engine brought $28,000. An amishman from Franklin County PA bought the D2, I know that he was also bidding on the belt pulleys, not sure if he ended up with one. Most likely it will be used to run a sawmill.

The Caterpillar Kleenex box with original advertising sheet brought $225. First time I had ever seen one.

Any item that had the business owner's name on it brought really good money.

The windshield "bulldozer" ice scraper went for $325.

Considering what the porcelain sign brought, I can only imagine what the John Deere sign brought the next day.
