Hi
Need the following parts for my Cat 22 1J2XXX:
1, Complete Power take out including back cover(or is there a closed cover without the Power take out axel?)
2, Two cylinders, both mine has cracks from bad antifreeze
3, Fire wall, mine has some bad stress fractures
4, Radiator cap
5, Fuel tank caps
Don´t know but parts from other cats may fit the 22.
Thanks
/Erik

I have 2 sets of 2 cylinders for a 22 with piston and compression rings, Oil rings gone, they are in good shape as I believe the engine had top end work done a short time before I scraped the tractor. The freight would be expensive.

Not sure if it was from a 1J or not, can get casting numbers and pics if needed

That's a sharp looking Twenty Two. You sure got it pulled right up to that concrete wall. Didn't waste any space there!

It is none of my business, but it looks like you already have the proper fuel tank caps, from what I can see. Were you concerned that those weren't the correct ones, or maybe they've crawled away, as some of my stuff seems to, since the pictures were taken. It certainly doesn't hurt to have spares.

The mushroom top precleaner is also correct for your tractor. That is something that is somewhat unusual to find, at least in good shape. I'd make sure to keep that where I knew where it was.

I like the auxiliary gauge. Kind of looks like an oil pressure gauge. Can't tell if your original gauge is just dusted over or if maybe its been blanked off. It looks like you'll need a shifter ball and at least one steering clutch handle at some point. Those you can buy from Caterpillar at $10.00 each or less.

You say you need the firewall. I assume you mean the piece that fits under the fuel tank support, right behind the engine. Unless that thing was broke all to pieces. I'd be tempted to weld up the cracks or, if they're not creating structural problems, just not worry about them. That assumes, of course, your not going for a concours style restoration.

Too bad your cylinders are cracked. When you say that, do you mean the liners are cracked, or is the block cracked in the water jacket. Since you mentioned needing two, I kind of assumed the cylinder liners, since they're separate for each cylinder. If you need a block, that would be one big piece for all four cylinders.

Just thinking idly about possibilities and making observations.

Pete.

Hi Pete
Thanks for your comments, they are of great value for me.
First of all, I took the photos when I first looked at the tractor. It was driven into the shed 10-15 years ago and I actually bought the tractor yesterday(after posting my add).
1, Yes, I have the proper fuel tank caps but someone beat them up and broke the flanges.
2, Didn´t know about the precleaner, interesting.
3, Yes, it´s the original oil preassure gauge. Very nice looking. Sadly the water temp gauge is missing.
4, Good to know Cat has the shifter ball and steering clutch handle, anyone know what the partnumbers are?
5, Yes, i mean the piece that fits under the fuel tank support. It is broken in two or more pieces, looks like all pieces are there so one might try to weld it.
6, There are freeze cracks on the outside of both of the double cylinders. Someone has attempted to fix them and painted the areas red, you can see it on one of the Pictures. Just under the manifold. It might be a good repair, don´t know yet.

Have not yet collected the Cat so I might need more parts in the future.

Hi Erik,
you could try some Bars Leaks or similar product for the freeze cracks which would be a much simpler "fix" or at least give you more time to find a replacement set of cylinders. Is it both pairs of cylinders or just the front pair? I've been treating my D2 pony motor which has freeze cracks and it's just about dried up. I brazed the cracks to narrow the gap, and then put in the crack sealer a few times and it's turned out quite well. Could you send a close-up photo of the extra gauge - I haven't seen one like that on a Twenty-Two.

Cheers,
Neil

Hi Neil
I didn´t notice that there were an auxiliary gauge on the tractor. Can´t say if it´s original or not. Have to investigate it when I get the tractor home.
