I'm looking for a good pair of 16.00x20 scraper tires for my Bucyrus Erie S90 pan. Just wondered if anyone had any sources. I can drive to fetch in the PA,NY,OH tri state area or maybe further if I fouund the right deal. Where do others get their rubber from?

I see on eBay that there are 16.00x20 tires off of military trucks. Could these be used?

As one example ( www.ebay.com/itm/16-00R20-MICHELIN-XZL-T...3-M923-/380785455399 ), these are 16.00x20 24ply and show a carrying capacity of 14,540 lbs @ 110psi.

I found 2 14.00 x 20 for $100 that came off Fort Leonard Wood MO.

I think the Hemmet Truck the army has uses 16.00 x 20's. If you are close to any Military Base you might check Property Disposal (government Liquidations) for tires. I sent a man I know who works on the fort a message to see if he knows where someone might get a couple of 16.00 X 20'S.

That's the kind of deal I'm after Brian, I have one that works and the other is shot, figuring I'll just do both and be done with it and the height will be similar too.

Andrew thanks for the link, not sure if radials have the same rim size, but I can check once I tear the flat off.

Brian,

If I remember right, I met you at Santa Margarita and we talked about tires from Ft. L. Wood. Our Chapter 16 is looking for two 18.00 x 24 tires for use on an old Letourneau scraper. I have just started this search and saw this thread so jumped into the discussion.

Some of them don't look too bad in the pictures, he's probably covering his bases by saying that since some folks might take issue with what he sold them sight unseen. I'm gonna try to get in touch with the guy and see if I can talk to him on the phone I reckon. I still have to get my old tires off the rim, dove head first into the D4 pony rebuild two days ago and I'm gonna stay on that till it's done.

Thank you very much for the Link Bboaz!!!!

Didn't know where you are in relationship to this place. Might be worth the time to go see what he has. That way you could pick from the lot and know what you were getting. My experience with the military is most of the time the criteria for replacing a tire on a vehicle is so stringent that almost anything will warrant replacement of a tire. Most of the time they won't repair a tire but replace it. A tire with a nail hole in it could be patched ands last a lifetime on a scraper especially since you will most likely run a tube in the tire anyway.

Be aware of the fact that this bid closes real soon so you might want to make contact.
