Sunshades/ Canopies was created by juiceman
Just wondering outloud; I have several tractors with the white fiberglass sunshades. Question is who is/was the manufacturer? I am here in California, these are quite common on Ag crawlers, I would actually like to buy a larger one for one of my D7s. Do they still sell these new? Help please! Juiceman.

I think it was J.M. Equipment that used to have some made a long time ago, now you are looking at the salvage yards around the state.

Hi CR, I appreciate the response, mighty kind of you. So, if JM Equipment sold lots of these sunshades, maybe that explains why so many A-C crawlers out here had them so equipped? Next time I go by Modesto or Patterson I will swing by one of the dealerships and see if there are any hidden away. I always meant to stop in and see about finding any memorabilia regarding the Adrian peach harvesters they used to sell back in the day too. Thanks again! Juiceman.

Barry, the parts guy at JM Equipment in Manteca, had the molds to make the Allen canopies. I talked to him about 6 months ago about getting a canopy. He does not have any more and has no plans to make any more... Not enough demand. He suggested using a tonneau cover for a pickup bed. Best of luck finding one at a wrecking yard.

Thanks Farmhand! You win the name that top prize! I have never heard anyone name the maker of those canopies. I have a recently purchased 7e that has a small one on it; looks like it is better suited for D4; looks of the same shape, but drives me nuts because it reminds me of the roof on a porta potty( which I know it isn't) the tonneau cover sounds like a swell idea, but maybe that would be better suited for a D8/D9. Maybe, just maybe, I can rent their mold. One of my drivers used to manufacture fiberglass Ag products; or I could have the guys at D&T fiberglass in Sacto make me some extras. Thanks again for the information, Fellas!

Farmhand: Did Barry give you any idea of what the cost would have been if they did have any in stock? I am tempted to make up a bunch of tops and maybe some mounting hardware. Got a couple of phone calls asking for some from another Cat guys......
If the cost isnt prohibitive, I can probably justify having a run of tops manufactured;keep a few for myself;keep some on hand for whomever would like to buy some. After running several of my tractors in the blistering heat, I can appreciate that those "Lids" help considerably!

There was no price mentioned this time. I bought a top from him about 15 years ago and as I remember it was about 250.00. That was without any supports.

I would think there would be a demand for the tops. Berry never advertised that the tops were available, just word of mouth.

Another option is to use a ROPS canopy from a D6C, like I did on my D7E.

Juiceman, are you interested in selling a white canopie and poles that will fit my 17A? If so maybe you can bring it to Pops play day? Thanks Mike

 Thanks Farmhand. I already have the posts on the D7e with a small canopy, make it easy on myself to just put a larger one on. The Tonneau cover idea actually sounded pretty good. Oh yeah, nice tractor of yours, the rops makes it look more like a 7G version. I am looking into having the lids made up. I have to talk to the boys at D&T Fiberglass about some more grape tubs, so I will be sly and slip that project into the program as well. They will pretty much make anything out of resin.

Mr. Oilslick, or do you prefer to be called Mike, I do not know when I will have some made up, but when I do, I will gladly part with; As far as playing at 7upullers, I do not know if I will ever get over there, even though I am only 2 hrs away. Looks like too much work over there! Lol. I do have a top and posts on a 17a already, maybe you should buy the whole thing...........one day I will meet some of you characters. Thanks for the inquiry. "Juiceman"
